Carrickfergus Castle

Carrickfergus castle stands on the shore of Belfast lough in Northern Ireland. A Norman castle it was built in 1177 by John de Courcy to protect thee entrance to the lough. This image was taken from the spot where in 1688 King William 111, landed on his way to fight a number of battles the most famous being the Battle of the Boyne in 1690
